Cedar Point’s WildCat!

Is it May yet? No not yet, but I am so ready to ride all the coasters at Cedar Point! One of the rides I look forward to riding is the WildCat, here is a very cool on ride video that I found on YouTube.

Just one phrase will work… Let’s Ride!

Jumbo Jet in motion!

One of the best pictures of the Jumbo Jet has to be this one:

Come to find out that this one was taken by Ed Boxer back in 1977 with an original 1966 Kodak Instamatic 104 camera that cost $15.95 brand new.

See all of Ed’s pictures; Photo Trip Report – Cedar Point and Geauga Lake 1977. Also taken by Ed this rare on ride photo:

A great shot from the back of the train looking forward while climbing the spiral lift hill. This slow climb gave you time to think about what was going to happen on that first hill. Can’t you almost feel the Jumbo Jet in motion?

The Cedar Point I remember.

My first trip to Cedar Point was in 1974 and up until that point I had only ridden carnival rides and rides at the Ohio State Fair. So you can understand my excitement when I found out our last stop on our 8th grade class trip would be Cedar Point. When I watched this clip on YouTube, I thought WOW this is the Cedar Point I remember. Don’t miss the Jumbo Jet at :42, 5:50 and 6:00. Also

With platinum passes in hand, I am so excited for Cedar Point to open! Let’s Ride!

Deluxe Jumbo Jet!

For the most part when Cedar Point buys a new ride it is the deluxe edition, however CP’s Jumbo Jet was kinda a plain Jane with not much of a theme to it. According to this sales card there was a deluxe model:

This Jumbo Jet has a lot more lights and a more festive feel to it… It makes you wonder why CP stuck with the plain version? Got that 70’s flower power going? Make peace not war… Far out Jumbo Jet!

A summer job for the fun of it!

It’s about that time when Cedar Point starts looking for employees to fill it’s part time job list. One of my favorite sites is Roller Coaster Freak, I find a lot of cool stuff on there brochure page. Oddly enough, I don’t know why I looked at the “1975 Employment brochure”, I found several pictures of our beloved “Jumbo Jet”:

One thing I find interesting is that the aerial shot of the Jumbo Jet is that it’s backwards. So I decide to put thelostcoaster magic on it and see if I could make it look right:

What a cool picture.. The Jumbo Jet along with the Matterhorn and Space Needle and in the distance is the big Ferris Wheel. The only thing missing is a clear view of the building with the polka dot roof!

CP in the mist!

This is really cool! In all of my visit’s to Cedar Point, I have never seen it like this:

Just imagine if this photo was taken back in 1974, we could see just the crown of the Jumbo Jet over by the space needle. It would have been a “Jumbo Mist”. How Cool! Let’s Ride!

When does the fun start?

WOW this winter is just dragging on and on or WHAT? All I want is for it to get warmer and then I’ll be ready for CP’s opening day. Please say it will be soon… THINK SPRING… Now say it with me… THINK SPRING… Now if I could just talk CP into buying back the Jumbo Jet… Please say YES Cedar Fair!

I’m ready are you? Let’s Ride!!!
