Jet Star 2 Looks like a Jumbo Jet Jr.

What a great looking ride this Jet Star 2 is. We reported that this Jumbo Jet wanna be was at Gerstlauer where it was refurbished and looking damn good. Well it seems that this Jet Star 2 is on the move, I got word on my FaceBook account that Sweden will be it’s new home. Ride Entertainment Group of Companies reported that this Jet Star 2 has been moved to “Furuvik in Sweden”. (Furuvik Zoo (Furuviksparken) is an amusement park and zoo in Furuvik) I have check the satellite and it’s not there yet. We will let you know when it is. I think that I am having a major case of roller coaster withdraw.. Let’s Ride!

Jumbo Jet from above!

What a great gift just in time for spring. I was wondering when our beloved Jumbo Jet would show on Google Maps at Dreamland in Minsk Belarus. I have been checking all winter long and the wait is over! From the looks of the current satellite view, it looks as if Dreamland has grown as well. Here is the previous satellite view of Jumbo Jet’s spot at Dreamland:I am so ready for Cedar Point to open… Perhaps one day I will get to Dreamland in Minsk Belarus to ride the Jumbo Jet a couple of more times. Let’s Ride!

Jumbo Jet at CNE in the late 70’s

I don’t know about you, but I have never seen a Jumbo Jet being moved from event to event. The Jumbo Jet for the most part was a portable coaster. Can you imagine the tear down and set up? I think for this reason most Jumbo Jets were put into parks as a permanent attraction. Every year CNE puts on an exhibit in Toronto, think of it as a State Fair. For the last 132 years CNE has put on such a fair. Back in the late 70’s a Jumbo Jet made it’s appearance in the Conklin Midway. Where’s Jumbo Jet?Steve Sobczuk’s Photostream

El Tornado – Salitre Mágico

May of last year we posted a video of the Tornado ( Tornado on ride video ) that is at Selva Mágica in Mexico City, Mexico. I was doing some research on RCDB.com and reading the notes of the Jet Star 3 / Jumbo Jet that listed 7 rides along with there locations and I noticed a park in Bogotá, Colombia called Salitre Magico that has a Jet Star 3 called Tornado. Now I don’t know how I missed this, perhaps my dyslexia was acting up? I found this video on YouTube:

Next stop was Google Maps to see if the Tornado was still standingIt looks like on the spiral lift hill is the only thing standing. What? Perhaps another LOST coaster? Salitre Magico still list the Tornado on it’s website. One can only hope that this is a bad shot or that the ride is being refurbished and that part of the track is in for repair. At this point only God knows!
