Jumbo Jet July 1973

Hello…and look who is back. After a long hiatus from this very blog, I have returned and on the prowl again for anything Jumbo Jet, Jet Star 2 or WildCat. Drop me a line at thelostcoaster at live dot com or thelostcoaster at facebook dot com if you have any pictures or ideas. Alright here we go! I found this great picture looking down on our beloved Jumbo Jet from what I would believe is from the space needle. Look how close she sets next to the beach and the cue lines in direct sunshine and no shade, You know that was a long hot wait! This picture was taken in July 1973 by Macserv and Jumbo Jet was looking good. The next year would be my 1st and only time to ride her. Until next time Cheers!

Thankful for the Jumbo Jet

I hope your Thanksgiving day was GREAT and you ate to your hearts content…

Years ago my mother had a complete set of plates with a “Blue Willow” pattern on them and we used them a couple of times for Thanksgivings Day. I came across this picture of a Blue Willow Cedar Point plate featuring my favorite ride the Jumbo Jet and thought how thankful I was to have ridden it… Of course there is lots more that I am thankful for, but I will not bore you with the details… Happy Thanksgivings Day, even if I am a little late do to all the food I ate! Lets Ride!

Walibi’s Jumbo Jet!

So someone sent me these pictures of Walibi’s Jumbo Jet and I just found them on my hard drive. How’s that? Lost pictures of a lost coaster on my computer? Some may say poetic justice… I just say OOPS and here are the lost pictures:

This Jumbo Jet was at Walibi’s from 1975 to 1991 and I believe that this Jumbo Jet is at Luna Park. Let’s Ride!

Jumbo Jet, You must be this tall to ride!

My first time riding the Jumbo Jet was back in 1974 and I was just tall enough to ride the Jumbo Jet (think dorky lanky kid and that’s me!) Over at PointBuzz there is a discussion going on about ride height signs. (See “CP ride height sign from the 70’s”). In the discussion, Walt has taken one of the pictures that Mike G sent me and has pointed out the “You must be this tall to ride sign” that was in front of the Jumbo Jet queue:
Thanks to Walt over at PointBuzz

A Berry Jumbo Jet Screen Shot!

I know that posts to this very blog have been sparse (to say the least!), however life seems to get in the way of thelostcoaster blog. First off in my real life I have been busy finding a new job so that I can leave the insurance business for good and I can now report that I will be starting a new job in October. (Now say it with me “SCORE!”). Some of you may know that my 1st smartphone was an HP/Palm branded WebOS phone. Well recently HP announced that they are now shutting down the WebOS branded phone. It was time to upgrade and I thought WTF? What am I supposed to do now? Well I did my research (RIM Research In Motion Pun Intended) and bought a New BlackBerry Torch 9850. Of course it is decked out in all my Jumbo Jet stuff and Yes kids I have the Jumbo Jet ring tone installed. So as soon as things settle down in my real life, I’ll get back to regular post. Fall is here and have a great HalloWeekend! Let’s Ride! BOO!!

Can You Hear My Ringtone NOW?

I have a SmartPhone which I have tricked out with all types of cool Jumbo Jet stuff. For the background I am using this picture, which I consider one the best in my collection:
I was thinking the other day how cool would it be if I could get a copy of those Jumbo Jet sounds that CoasterBob62 recorded back in the day (See the YouTube Video on our post “Can you hear me now?”) and use that for my ringtone. So I contacted CB62 and asked him if he would send a MP3 copy of the Jumbo Jet that he recorded back in the 70’s and he did. Here is my current ringtone:

So play this file and close your eyes, You”ll think that your are standing in front of Cedar Point’s Jumbo Jet, Let’s Ride!

I found some great B&W pictures of a Jumbo Jet that I believe to be at Amigoland in Le Grau du Roi, France. All I can say is WOW! Flickr allows me to post on my blog through the magic of the interweb. I hope that you have a great 4th of July and Ride on!

Réflexion manège...

Wildwood Boardwalk 1986

Every once in awhile I get tips from readers of this blog. On 06/27/11, I posted a video on the post entitled “Cedar Point 1973” and Trackbender let me know that there was some good video on YouTube and all I would need to do is search Wildwood Boardwalk 1986. Trackbender wrote: “There’s a great close up shot of the Morey Pier Jumbo Jet at in action at the 6:17 mark. Enjoy!” Thanks Trackbender for bringing this to my attention.

Cedar Point 1973

Seems like new stuff keeps coming up on YouTube. I found this clip from Super 8 home movies. Its gets a little long so be watching for the Jumbo Jet at :51 from the SkyRide, then at 6:46 from the Space Needle, and then at 12:54 see the Jumbo Jet spiral at night.

Lost Again?

From time to time I check out how this blog is found on the web and I will use the search terms that show up in my stats. Earlier today I went searching for “jumbo jet аттракцион” (аттракцион is russian for attraction). I never know for sure what I will find. You can imagine my surprise when I came across this site:Can this be true that Cedar Points Jumbo Jet is up for sale?Does this mean that our beloved Jumbo Jet may be on the move again? Would Cedar Point have this model restored to it’s original 1972 condition with upgrades to todays standards? We will keep you updated… More to come….
